MY COACHING PHILOSOPHY
The foundations of my coaching philosophy stem from my experiences as an athlete.
The most fulfilling coach-athlete relationships for me have not been about the results or performances we achieved, but rather about the journey, and the strong bond we developed over time. As such, I know that coaching is so much more than just prescribing training sessions. It's far more complex and intricate than that.
Developing a positive and meaningful coach-athlete relationship is integral to success.
This not only takes time, but also commitment, belief, trust, and a true understanding of your athletes - what makes them tick, their passion, their strengths, weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Most importantly, you have to understand who they are as a person, not just as an athlete.
As with any relationship, coaching is about collaboration and mutual respect - really listening to the needs and desires of your athletes, and communicating effectively with them and their entire team and support network.
Only with these strong foundations and a meaningful relationship in place do I believe that a coach can really have a positive impact on the life of their athletes, and help them achieve their goals.
This is what I will strive to bring to my coaching - purpose, passion and genuine care.
